Our tours take you along quiet side streets and flat terrain, so you can cruise along at a relaxed pace. Nearly half of the routes wind through green parks or along the Spree River—perfect for enjoying the city to the fullest. Our experienced guides will ensure an unforgettable Berlin experience with fascinating insider knowledge and entertaining anecdotes!

The tours start and end on the plaza in front of St. Nicholas Church (for your GPS: Poststraße 11, ZIP code: 10178). Bicycle pickup also takes place here. Here are the exact directions:

We strongly recommend that you register in advance, as group size is limited and this allows us to plan more effectively. There is also a minimum number of participants required for a tour to take place. Registering two to three days in advance is sufficient, though you’re welcome to do so earlier.

Bookings can be canceled free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour begins. Our detailed cancellation policy is outlined in the Terms and Conditions. It’s very rare for our tours to be canceled due to bad weather. The deciding factor in such cases is an official severe weather warning from the German Weather Service. Rain showers are usually short-lived; you can take a quick shelter or pop into a nice café. In addition, the guide will have rain ponchos ready at the start of the tour. If the bike tour really cannot take place (due to an official severe weather warning), we can reschedule the tour or, alternatively, conduct a walking tour (we have plenty of umbrellas available for this). We need your cell phone number for situations like this, among other reasons.

No. We provide smooth-riding bicycles for the tour. These are regularly inspected and maintained by our experienced mechanics. Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own bike.

Public restrooms are hard to find in Berlin. Our guides know where they all are and are happy to take breaks to visit them.

No. According to the traffic regulations, wearing a helmet is not mandatory, but it does increase safety. That’s why you can borrow bike helmets in all standard sizes from us for free.

Much less tiring than a walking tour. We ride at a leisurely pace on smooth-rolling bikes. We also stop every five to ten minutes at interesting spots.

Tours 1 & 3 are suitable for all age groups; the others are not necessarily suitable for small children. Of course, we also have bikes for the youngest riders. We have everything from trailers to tandems. Please let us know if you have any special requests. For adults, we offer the most common options: women’s and men’s bikes, gears with coaster brakes and freewheels, as well as wheel sizes ranging from 24 to 28 inches. The average age of our bikes is 1.5 years.

Yes, almost all bikes have a basket. And if you have luggage that’s too big for the bike baskets, you can store it at our office for the duration of your tour.

There are two reasons behind our name. 1. THE FREE BERLIN CONCEPT: Guides have the freedom to design their own tours. So deviations from the standard itinerary are possible. 2. Many of our tour guides grew up in a divided Berlin and experienced the Cold War and the fall of the Wall firsthand. Since then, Berlin has earned a reputation around the world as a tolerant, libertarian—in short, free—city. While searching for a name, we settled on the simple, memorable, and universally understandable “Free Berlin.”

Generally, our office is staffed every day from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except on Sundays, when we close at 3:00 p.m. However, rentals can begin outside these hours upon request and end at 9:00 p.m. as standard. From November through the end of February, our availability is limited.
